Earth Day – Next Monday, April 22 is National Earth Day! The Green Team is inviting teachers who teach Skills to sign up and participate in a school clean up. Also, we are asking that we reduce the use of electricity and turn off any lights in room that is not being used or teachers can opt to teach with the lights off. Monday is supposed to be a beautiful sunny day so the sun light might be enough to light up the room! The Green Team will also be sending out some videos that you can show…

Daily Reminders – Locks and Lockers go together. Lockers should always be locked. If locks are found unlocked, or lockers are found without a lock, they will be bolted shut.

Yearbook – The grade 7 and 9 members of the yearbook will meet today in the library after school. The session will end at 4:30. 

Crochet Crew – will be meeting after school today in Mr. Beck’s room from 3:00 – 4:00.

Tutoring – Today after school from 3:30 to 5:00 in the library.

Student Council – Reminder that “Popcorn Night” is happening on Thursday from 7-9 PM. You can bring your $5 to get in when you arrive, and all money raised is going towards Easter Seals. The options are Barbie, Shrek, Ratatouille, and Grown Ups, and you can vote on Instagram until the end of the day Tuesday for what we will watch.   ALL student…

Congratulations to Tigers Summer Britton, Jenelle Thompson, Allie Bailey and Sadie Hughes! Their U14 Wave ringette team won GOLD at the Eastern Canadian Ringette Championship this weekend! This is the first time a PEI team has ever won gold at Easterns. 

Library – There will be tutoring on Tuesday from 3:30 until 5pm.  Ms. Poirier will collect solar glasses until the end of the week.  They will be donated to Astronomers Without Borders.  A new book club session will start on Tuesday…

Congratulations to Greta Edgett-Gallant who represented Stonepark at the Provincial Science Fair this week. Greta was presented with an award from UPEI for Engineering and Sustainability.

Student Council – Student Council students will be selling freezies in the Food lab this morning. Freezies are $2 each, cash only. All proceeds go to the the Easter Seals campaign. Any student council member wanting to help out, please see Ms. MacDonald.

Band – Good luck to our Grade 8 Concert Band and Grade 9 Concert Band as they travel to UPEI to perform at the provincial music festival, PEI Band Days! 

Teachers, please excuse the Grade 9 band students for an early lunch at 11:35. Students are to each lunch in the cafeteria and be ready to board the bus to UPEI at 11:55. Instruments that are too large to fit on the bus are to be dropped off at the back door by the gym - a parent volunteer will transport them to UPEI.

Library – Ms. Poirier is collecting solar glasses to send to Astronomers Without Borders.  They will make sure the glasses will be sent to areas needing them for the next eclipse.  If you still have your solar glasses from school, you can bring them to the library and put them in the donation bin.

Congratulations to Kenneth Shanu Yohannan on becoming Chess Champion (Grade 8) at the Provincial level. He is selected to represent province at the National level.

Band News – A reminder to Grade 9 band students, you have early morning band on Wednesday of this week instead of Thursday.  The Grade 7 early morning band on Wednesday is cancelled.  No Jazz Band on Wednesday after school.

Gauss Math – Grade 7 students who have been recommended for the Gauss Math Competition that will occur in May, will have their first practice session on Wednesday of this week during the first period. Please bring a sharpened pencil, a piece of loose leaf, and a calculator if you can. Grade 8s will be holding their first practice soon. They are to bring the same materials.

Core French Trip – Students who want to work on and prepare for the Core French trip to Summerside can see Mr. Beck in Room 321 at lunch time. A reminder that the trip is next week on April 9.
