Week One - Thursday, April 11

Band – Good luck to our Grade 8 Concert Band and Grade 9 Concert Band as they travel to UPEI to perform at the provincial music festival, PEI Band Days!

Teachers, please excuse the Grade 9 band students for an early lunch at 11:35. Students are to each lunch in the cafeteria and be ready to board the bus to UPEI at 11:55. Instruments that are too large to fit on the bus are to be dropped off at the back door by the gym - a parent volunteer will transport them to UPEI.

Grade 8 band students will be returning from UPEI during noon break and will be attending afternoon classes.

Intramurals – Badminton in the gym at lunchtime for grade 8/9.

If students wish to take a soccer ball or football outside at lunchtime today, they can see the PE staff.  No one is allowed on the Heather Ave field until an announcement is made.

Badminton – Badminton team practice today until 4:30.

EAL Segment – Today we will talk about Honduras gastronomy and some of its unique traditions!
Honduran cuisine is a fusion of Mesoamerican, Spanish, Caribbean and African cuisines. There are also dishes from the Garifuna people. Regional specialties include sopa de caracol and baleadas. Sopa de caracol is one of the most notable dishes in Honduran cuisine, consisting of large pieces of conch cooked in coconut milk with the addition of conch broth, cassava, plantains, and spices such as coriander, garlic, and chili. A simple baleada consists of a thick flour (though sometimes corn) tortilla that's been put on a charcoal grill. It's slathered in refried black beans, topped with a bit of white farmer's cheese, then folded over like an American-style soft taco.
