Week One - Tuesday, April 23

Gauss Math – Grade 8 students will practice today during second period in the cafeteria. Please bring a pencil and a calculator. If you can’t make practice and still plan to write in the competition, please see Ms. MacKinnon or Mr. Flanagan.

Student Council – there is a meeting in Mr. Roche's room after lunch today. Grade 9 teachers please excuse all Student Council reps from 4th period.

Yearbook – The grade 8 members of the yearbook will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, April 24, after school in the library. The session will end at 4:30.

Table Tennis Tournament – today is the final day to sign up for the 2024 Stonepark Table Tennis Tournament! Please sign your name up outside of the games room by the end of lunchtime Tuesday, as the tournament will begin Wednesday at lunch!

Green Team – The Yard Clean Up is a go today! For teachers that signed up to participate, please wait for members of the Green Team to bring the materials to your class before you head out! Thank you in advance for doing your part in helping keep Stonepark and our planet clean.

Softball – Any girls interested in trying out for the girls’ softball team are to sign up outside the gym. 

Flag Football – Tryouts continue today.  
Grade 7 girls have a tryout today and Wednesday from 3:00 – 4:45.
Grade 7 boys have a tryout today and Wednesday from 3:15 – 5:00.  
Grade 8 boys will have a list posted today by morning break.  They have their next tryout on Wednesday from 3:00-5:00.  
Grade 8 girls have a tryout today from 3:00 to 4:30 in the Bowl. If you want to try out and can’t make it today, please see Mr. Bradley or Ms. R.
Grade 9 girls have tryouts on Wednesday from 3:00 – 4:45
Grade 9 boys have tryouts on Wednesday from 5:00 – 6:30.  

Badminton – Good luck today to Mia McGee-Gallant and Stella Myers who play in badminton provincials.  They play in pool play today and hope to advance to the semifinals on Saturday.

Intramurals – Open gym today at lunchtime in the gym.

EAL Segment – One of the most beautiful landmarks in China is the Great Wall of China!
It extends for over 21 thousand kilometers or 13 thousand miles, making it the largest manmade structure in the world. 
● The construction started in 220 BC and it took around 2,500 years to build. 
● The Wall stretches across 15 northern Chinese provinces. 
● When it was first built, there were actually 19 walls, however, many of them no longer exist.
● The next fact will be included in the trivia for this week! The Great Wall of China became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in December 1987.
