Special announcement for you grade 8s!
Are you a leader? Would you like to make a difference for your peers? Would you be willing to volunteer one hour a week to help others? Well, we have an excellent opportunity for you. The Bagel Barn is recruiting volunteers for the 2025-2026 school year. If you are interested, get an application form from M. Valois in grade 9 (upstairs) or Mr. Acorn in grade 7 (downstairs). You have until Friday, May 9th to apply.
Library – there will be tutoring today after school from 3:30 until 5pm.
Caribou Math Contest – The last Caribou Math Contest of the year will be taking place this Thursday, May 8. Sign-up sheets are posted outside Mrs. Reynard’s room. Hope to see many mathletes participating.
Gauss Math – Grade 8, period 2 today in the grade 7 science lab.
12-minute Fitness Circuit is going today in the gym at 12:05. There will only be badminton in half of the gym today until around 12:20 because of the fitness test.
Flag Football – The grade 8 A boys flag team have a meeting in the gym at morning break.
There will be a short meeting today during morning break for the grade 8 girls flag football team. Please meet in the gym.
Grade 7 girl's flag football will have a short meeting today at morning break in the SSC. Please bring your playbooks.
The AA boys flag team went 1-1 on their first day of the new season. The defeated QC two and lost a tight game to Birchwood.
Girls AA - Mia McGee-Gallant threw three touchdown passes to lead our Tigers to a 28-6 victory over Montague, and our Girls stayed undefeated with a 20-6 win over Queen Charlotte. Other top performers last night were Nealah Court with 3 touchdowns, Alexis Huggan with 2, and Jenell Thompson and Brielle Tremere with one each. On defense, Charlotte Roche and Jenell Thompson both had an interception. All players contributed in both games. Well done, Tigers!
Softball – There will be a girls softball tryout today from 3:15-4:30 at the Francois Buote School Field. Please let Mr Dunn, Mr MacSwain or Mr Acorn know if you need a drive.
Fry Truck Fundraiser – the Cavendish Farms Fry Truck is here on both Wednesday and Thursday at lunchtime where Student Council members will be serving up fries and selling them for only $3 each. Bring cash to school both days to get some crispy, delicious fries to add to your lunch!
Disc Golf – the first practice for the disc golf club will happen on Thursday, after school from 3-4:15 PM. All players who signed up will just need to meet in the gym after school, and then the practice will happen on MacLeod field.
Leadership Conference – grade 8 student leaders who were invited to next Wednesday’s leadership conference are reminded to hand in their permission forms to Mr. Roche or Ms. MacDonald this week. Also, could the following students please go to the Foods Lab right after announcements: Ginny Hewko, Sophie Lee, Brooklyn Stewart, Vienna Morrissey, and Leigha Dunn.
