Week One - Wednesday, May 8

Special announcement for you grade 8s! Are you a leader? Would you like to make a difference for your peers? Would you be willing to volunteer one hour a week to help others? Well, we have an excellent opportunity for you. The Bagel Barn is recruiting volunteers for the 2024-2025 school year. If you think you are interested, get an application form from M. Valois in grade 9 (upstairs) or Mr. Acorn in grade 7 (upstairs).  You have until Friday, May 10th to apply.

Reach for the Top – Stonepark held their first ever round-robin Reach for the Top tournament after school yesterday – we had 8 teams in total with Souris Grade 7s and 8s as our quest and who won the tournament by a slim margin! Thank you to all the students who took part and kept score, and Mr. Coleman for helping out as well. Reach for the Top Club will resume tomorrow at lunch time – same place, same time – bring your lunch!

Free to Be Me Group – There will be no group this Thursday May 8th after school. We will resume next week.

Disc Golf Club – The Disc Golf club will practice today in the bowl from 3-4:30. New members are welcome and encouraged!

Table Tennis – The Stonepark Table Tennis Tournament will resume today when students return from the play at lunch, with tier 1 groups playing their playoff matchups. Tier 2 playoffs will happen tomorrow at lunch.

Softball – There will be a girls softball tryout today at Mullberry Field from 3:15-4:30.

Intramurals – Grade 7/9 in the gym at lunchtime today.

High Jump – Thursday at lunchtime in half the gym will be high jump tryouts.  If you want to do high jump this year at track and field zones, this is your first opportunity to try out.

Track and Field continues today with throwing events.   Runners are still welcome to show up for a running workout.  Saturday’s time at UPEI is still to be confirmed.

Flag Football – Grade 7 and 8 boys, if you still have your form, please bring it to Mr. Bridges this morning.

Congratulations to our Grade 7 Girls A Flag Football team! They played their first game and had their first win yesterday against Belfast (20 -18).  You all played AMAZING, way to go! Reminder to players that we have a practice today from 3 – 4:45pm.

The Grade 8 Girl’s Flag Football Team dominated their first 2 games of the season with a total score of 107 to 7.  The defence combined to have 9 interceptions, which led to touchdowns.  The offense was able to read the field well and adjust on the fly.  Special shout-out to Maria Curley who scored two touchdowns in her first games as a Tiger. Awesome job ladies!!
